A couple of weeks ago I hosted a tarot tea party at Afternoonified in Hapenny Lane in Katoomba. Afternoonified is a really cute little steampunk games shop that has an upstairs area where I also read tarot for Winter Magic Festival in June.
It was a lovely day with about 8 people gathered around a big table with many cups of tea, cake, cookies and cards. We went through a narrative process using my cards, that involve using a random card to tell a story. We each joined pieces of the story by picking a card and went around in a circle until we had picked 3 cards each.
Our stories were phenomenal tales of overcoming oppression and going on a journey of self discovery! They seemed to have beautiful themes of nature being a great healer and home as well as not putting up with abuse and that the most important thing is community, self love and exploration. We told stories in 2 rounds.
After each round we exposed our cards to everyone and offered observations or insight into each other's cards. My cards seemed to have a message of speaking my truth, connecting with other people and overcoming isolation.
It seemed everyone enjoyed themselves and someone suggested I run the group regularly. Entry was only $5 and so while I made no money on the day, it was certainly a rewarding process which I am strongly considering running once a month.
What do you think? Is it something worth offering as something a little different to this community?
Have you ever attended something similar? How was that for you?
